What are the responsibilities and job description for the Memory Care Activities Coordinator position at Churchill Estates Assisted Living?
As the Activities Coordinator you will be responsible for creating, initiating, and facilitating resident-centered programs that promote social, thought-provoking, and physical opportunities for our Community residents. This role requires a compassionate individual with the ability to engage with residents in memory care, including those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, tailoring activities to their unique needs.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm, time can flex depending on scheduled programs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create, develop, and facilitate engaging programs geared toward residents’ interests and abilities, with special emphasis on adapting activities for residents in memory care.
- Provide a setting that is welcoming, safe, and comfortable for maximum participation, ensuring sensitivity to the specific needs of memory care residents.
- Make an active contribution toward improving community relations, increasing public regard, and overall awareness of the community.
- Partner with other Activities Coordinators to promote attendance for "Featured" performers and programs.
- Facilitate and actively participate in small and large group settings.
- Maintain an organized and professional environment.
- Maintain a safe driving record and have knowledge of proper procedures and safety protocols when transporting senior residents.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Department, Administrator, and RCC in the development and execution of the monthly program calendar and Resident Daily Schedule.
- Routinely communicate with the Administrator and RCC regarding resident needs or significant changes noticed, particularly for those in memory care.
- Communicate effectively and clearly in oral, written, and digital forms with senior citizens, families, visitors, and management, and be capable of relating to a variety of people and personalities.
- Manage the monthly budget for supplies, entertainment, etc.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and creativity in facilitating activities for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Specifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Computer skills: 1 year (Required)
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the residence.
- Familiarity with the unique needs of residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Competencies:
- Must demonstrate an interest in working with the senior population.
- Interact with guests, residents, and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Respond promptly to resident needs.
- Strong administrative and follow-up skills.
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, especially when working with residents in memory care.
Experience and Education needed:
- CNA or caregiving experience preferred, but not required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Food Handler's card.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must hold valid State Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
