We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Couture / Ready to Wear Designer & Pattern Maker to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in garment construction and mechanical knowledge, with the ability to draft patterns and fabricate designs that meet our quality standards. As a Designer & Pattern Maker, you will play a crucial role in the development of new clothing lines, ensuring that each piece is crafted with precision and care.
Responsibilities
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the pattern making process for the ready-to-wear team, translating design concepts into precise patterns that meet quality, fit, and production requirements.
- Utilize advanced pattern making techniques and industry knowledge to create patterns for a variety of garments, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in the development process.
- Collaborate closely with our Creative Director & Assistant Designer, and sample makers to interpret design sketches, address fit issues, and achieve desired aesthetic and functional outcomes.
- Conduct fittings and garment assessments to evaluate fit, proportion, and construction, making necessary adjustments to patterns to achieve optimal fit and silhouette.
- Mentor and train junior pattern makers and team members as our product team grows, sharing expertise, providing guidance, and fostering skill development to maintain high standards of craftsmanship and innovation.
- Stay on top of emerging trends, technologies, and techniques in pattern making and garment construction, continuously refining and enhancing skills to support the creative and technical evolution of the ready-to-wear team.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-10 years of manual draping and flat pattern making experience in women's high-end ready-to-wear fashion companies.
- Experience specifically in high-end women's ready-to-wear companies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in manual draping and flat pattern making for complex garments.
- Computer patternmaking skills are a plus.
- Experience working in high-end costume-made or couture companies is advantageous.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and pressure-filled environment.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in fashion design or pattern-making.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with designers, technical designers, and sample makers.
