What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Business Development Officer, you will drive the growth of new business by acquiring high-net-worth individuals, family offices, endowments, and foundations as clients. Working closely with Relationship Managers, Investment and Wealth Specialists, and other sales professionals, you will implement business development strategies and cultivate relationships with key referral sources. You will also play a lead role in promotional events and seminars, enhancing CIBC’s market presence and expanding the client base. This role operates in an office environment, with frequent travel required.

How You’ll Succeed


• Grow new business: Develop and acquire new client relationships with individuals and institutions that have complex financial needs.
Manage and retain key relationships: Oversee select client accounts, ensuring strong retention and business growth while aligning with investment policies and strategies.
Collaborate with internal partners: Work with Relationship Managers, Investment and Wealth Specialists, and other sales professionals to execute national sales strategies.
• Expand referral networks: Build a pipeline of business prospects by developing relationships with attorneys, accountants, bankers, and other key intermediaries.
• Strengthen channel partnerships: Identify and cultivate opportunities within existing channels to drive additional business.
Lead strategic initiatives: Organize and facilitate promotional events, seminars, and networking opportunities to expand alliances and grow CIBC’s presence in the wealth management space.

Who You Are


Experienced in wealth management: You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in wealth management or a closely related field.
• Financially savvy: You possess extensive knowledge of investment strategies, trust administration, and wealth management solutions.
Proven business developer: You have a track record of successfully raising assets and driving new client acquisition.
• Exceptional communicator: Your verbal and written communication skills allow you to confidently engage clients, prospects, and professional networks.
Skilled presenter: You excel at delivering compelling presentations in both one-on-one and group settings, effectively marketing complex financial solutions.
Entrepreneurial and growth-focused: Your approach to business development reflects an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for building lasting client relationships.
Well-credentialed: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with advanced designations such as MBA, CFP, CFA, JD, CTFA, or CPA.

California residents — your privacy rights regarding your actual or prospective employment 

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package.  This role has an expected salary range of $165,000 - 185,000 for the St. Louis, MO market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.  The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
