What You’ll Be Doing
The Sr. Manager, Infrastructure Management will lead our database team, driving the strategic vision and execution of database management initiatives across the organization. The Database Manager will oversee a growing team of database professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Key responsibilities include establishing and enforcing standards and best practices for database management, managing database projects, and ensuring data integrity and security. In addition to technical oversight, the Database Manager will play a crucial role in coaching, mentoring, and developing team members, supporting their career growth and skill development. We are seeking an individual who can be a leader, collaborator, and executor.
CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2 days per week on-site, while other days may be remote.
How You’ll Succeed
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $125,000 - $155,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component. How You’ll Succeed
- Technical Acumen - Create better ways of solving technical problems and not be afraid of challenging the status quo. Drive continuous improvement and introduction of IT best practices into all areas of database management process, metrics, and performance. Your knowledge and understanding must be a of a technical leader who is comfortable diving deep into technical solutions/issues.
- People Leadership - Lead and inspire a team of DBA’s for IT operations and project support. Hold teams accountable for quality of work, and achieving committed work with project timeline, mentor team members on improvements.
- Relationship Management - Promote collaboration among technology, product, and business teams. Communication, presentations, and negotiation skills needed to facilitate brainstorming sessions, build consensus, and shepherd solutions through governance forums.
- You demonstrate 10 years of experience in Database Management with a focus on Azure and on-prem database management. You have a solid background in database technologies including ETL, database platforms including Microsoft SQL (Azure SQL, and SQL Managed Instance), database development and implementation issues, including replication, schema design, indexing, and SQL query. You have an ability to manage life cycle support of database systems: apply patches and upgrades; diagnose and resolve problems; monitor and improve performance. Experience on Oracle, MySQL and Sybase is an asset.
- You are a bold and authentic leader. You possess 3-5 years’ experience leading a team of database administrators and are a seasoned professional with the ability to coach and help develop other team members. You're passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. You have led diverse, high performing teams.
- You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Business, and/or a related field.
- Your influence makes an impact. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You lean in on executive guidance, and you inspire outcomes by making yourself heard.
- You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way. You bring Advanced analytical problem-solving and organizational skills and attention to detail.
