What You’ll Be Doing
Join our Global Markets team in New York as a Summer Analyst and become part of a team focused on delivering innovative banking and investment solutions to CIBC’s corporate, government, and institutional clients around the world.
Our Global Markets business comprises our sales, trading, structuring and research teams spanning cash and derivative products in foreign exchange, commodities, rates and equities in addition to securitization, prime brokerage, money markets and more. We are widely recognized for our capabilities and leadership in these areas and remain committed to investing in technology and talent to drive innovation and scalable growth.
CIBC Summer Analyst program in the U.S. is ten weeks long. Analysts are assigned to two five-weeks placements in sales or trading roles within the trading floor businesses of CIBC's wholesale bank. During the course of the program, which includes orientation and summer-long training, you will develop a comprehensive view of our Global Markets businesses and familiarity with key asset classes, product categories, client types, and job functions.
You will be provided the opportunity to gain experience in one or more of the following areas:
Commodities
Foreign Exchange
Interest Rates
Fixed Income/CLOs/Money Markets
Growth Markets
Equities and Equity Derivatives
Securitization
Electronic Trading
Prime Services

You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree in a Business related discipline including Economics, Finance or related at the time of the internship
Expected graduation date of December 2026 – June 2027

How you’ll succeed
Passion for financial markets – Demonstrate strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills, with keen interest in the financial markets and proven record of academic success, teamwork and extracurricular involvement.
Process oriented – Present detailed analysis, financial modeling, structuring, and research to support senior professionals and help to identify opportunities to win business, execute transactions, automate existing processes and develop new businesses.
Communication – Partner with your team to make an impact by applying a technical skillset to help generate insights and/or optimize processes. Showcase highly effective written, oral and presentation skills with an ability to explain complex concepts.
Relationship management – Provide excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to contribute to high-performance teams and a demonstrate commitment to acting with integrity.

CIBC’s Internship and Analyst positions are not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B via). This includes, for example, situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would need H-1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment in order to maintain employment eligibility.
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $105,000 - $115,000 (pro-rated for the 10-week internship program) for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
