The Global Investment Banking group provides equity and debt underwriting as well as corporate finance advisory services to corporations. CIBC’s Investment Banking group of professionals are dedicated specifically to advising clients on mergers and acquisitions as well as equity and debt capital raising activities. There is an extensive amount of interaction with other groups within the firm in order to provide clients with customized financing and advisory solutions. The role of an Analyst within CIBC’s Global Diversified Industries Investment Banking group is challenging and fast-paced. To be successfully perform the work, you'll be on site full time. What you'll be doing Assist in executing all facets of the group’s mandates. Quantitative and qualitative data analysis and industry research. Lead industry comparables and precedent transaction analyses. Assist in company due diligence investigations. Develop and audit complex financial models. Prepare offering memoranda and marketing materials. Preparation of client proposals and “pitchbooks”. Maintaining group’s databases on a current basis. Assist in preparing extensive written documents including business development proposals and company information documents for marketing purposes. Must be able to accept flexibility in required personal time commitments to complete work assignments. The role of an analyst is challenging and fast-paced. How you'll succeed The primary roles and responsibilities for this Analyst position include providing a broad range of analytical, financial modelling, research and presentation preparation support to all the professionals within their group. Typically, Analysts are assigned to a variety of transactions and advisory projects such as mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financings, strategic advisory/alternatives projects and full capital structure solution projects. Education You’ve Completed. Finance, accounting, mathematics, computer science or economics undergraduate degree. Completion of and/or intention to complete a CPA or CFA, is beneficial. Industry Experience. Previous experience in one or more of investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or deal advisory is preferred. Experience with meaningful financial modeling and analysis is required. Working knowledge of the consumer, industrial or telecommunication industries is an asset but not a requirement. Financial Skills. Excellent analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices, including cash flow and returns analyses. Knowledge of accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations. Technical Skills (Programs, Methodologies, Systems). Strong quantitative technical skills as it relates to basic computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), industry technology (FactSet, Bloomberg) and other applicable software. Collaborative and Professional. Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop and manage relationships with clients, including both internal and external business partners. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills sufficient to provide detailed explanation and interpretation of factual and conceptual information and ideas related to complex technical and conceptual issues. Unquestioned professionalism, ethics and reputation and proven ability to exercise strong independent judgment when making business decisions and/or representing CIBC Capital Markets.
