To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com Job Description What you’ll be doing The Advisory team within the Wealth Solutions Group (WSG) supports the development, structuring and documentation of structured note transactions. The successful candidate for this Associate level position will be a lawyer with 1-3 years’ experience who possesses strong communication and analytical skills. How you’ll succeed Primary trading floor liaison with internal and external transaction control and approval functions Providing transaction expertise for structured notes and other products across a number of underlying markets Working closely with a number of internal partners, including Structuring, Sales, Trading, Legal, Treasury and Taxation Division on new product development initiatives Ensuring transactions and products are structured to achieve legal, regulatory, tax and operational objectives for CIBC and its clients Trading floor quality control and legal & reputational risk management function, ensuring transactions are aligned with CIBC reputational & legal risk policies Leading initiatives with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve cost reductions and operational efficiencies Assisting the Sales team in building new strategic partnerships with internal and external distribution channels Working effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies (e.g. Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance) to ensure all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputation issues and shareholder objectives are covered, and to promote the firm’s vision, mission and values Who You Are Work Experience. Lawyer with 1 to 3 years’ experience with a large transaction-oriented Canadian law firm. Emphasis on securities law and/or corporate finance Additional knowledge and exposure. Knowledge of the brokerage industry, wealth management, structured products, derivatives and financial markets would be considered an asset Technical Skills. Excellent knowledge of PC applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Collaborative. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Proven ability to pay close attention to detail Detail Oriented. Excellent analytical and conceptual skills. Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
