What you’ll be doing
As an Institutional Client Service Manager, you will support the firm’s institutional relationship management and business development activities. You will interact with institutional clients and prospects to address inquiries, coordinate with internal colleagues to meet client needs, and tailor communications to specific audiences. Your role will involve managing client communications, processing transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the broader institutional team with administrative and operational tasks.

How you’ll succeed
- Deliver exceptional client service: Provide the highest level of service to institutional clients by processing cash flow transactions, entering trade orders, and responding to inquiries via email and phone.
- Manage client communications: Handle day-to-day interactions with clients and respond to assigned requests professionally and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance and organization: Maintain client records in accordance with CIBC, industry, and regulatory standards, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
- Support business development: Participate in client meetings, prepare presentations, and manage follow-ups to support institutional relationship management efforts.
- Collaborate across teams: Work with financial advisors, internal business partners, and legal/compliance teams to address client needs and ensure timely resolution of inquiries.
- Maintain industry knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of operational workflows, investment products, and market trends to better support clients and consultants.
- Contribute to special projects: Support cross-functional initiatives, process improvements, and strategic efforts to enhance institutional client services.
Who you are
- Educational background: You have a bachelor’s degree (required).
- Industry experience: You have 2 years of experience in asset management or a comparable industry (e.g., investment consulting, wealth management). Prior institutional account management experience is preferred.
- Client service expertise: You have experience working in a client service role in the brokerage, investment advisory, or financial services industry.
- Strong communicator: You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of management.
- Detail-oriented and organized: You can manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy.
- Collaborative and independent: You work well in a team setting but can also take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Technically proficient: You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, and have experience designing spreadsheets, using formulas, and filtering functions.
What you need to succeed
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly grasp financial and investment concepts.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to manage time-sensitive tasks efficiently.
- Flexibility to work in a hybrid/WFH role with required in-office attendance based on business needs.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $65,000 - 90,000 for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
