JOB PURPOSE
The position requires close collaboration with the company's compliance and business teams, and interaction with department colleagues. The Corporate Paralegal must be able to work effectively with all levels of management, including the company's senior leaders.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepare and maintain corporate organizational and board materials, including meeting agendas and minutes
- Assist with advance preparation for board meetings
- Maintain corporate registrations and timely make required filings
- Maintain corporate and departmental records
- Assist with regulatory filings, such as Canadian Exemptive filings and other state filings
- Assist Private Wealth Legal team with drafting/revising corporate/service and advisory agreements and template forms
- Organize, maintain, and update filing systems (hard copies and electronic) and promptly retrieve information from files
- Perform miscellaneous administrative tasks including scheduling meetings for Private Wealth Legal Team, payment of invoices, book travel, etc.
- Collaborate with other paralegals and attorneys to appropriately process and respond to legal notices and orders served by governmental and private parties, such as subpoenas and citations to discover assets regarding CIBC client accounts
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 years of administrative experience in a legal or corporate environment preferred
- Ability to handle multiple tasks within a very fast-paced financial services company
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Paralegal certification preferred
- Notary preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
