The incumbent produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine in accordance with work order specifications
Duties And Responsibilities
- Determines materials and specifications, and machine setup requirements, according to blueprints, drawings, or work orders
- Loads programs
- Loads machine by lifting panels into position
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting; taking measurements to detect malfunctions
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs
- Maintains a clean, safe work area free of foreign materials
- Participates in training and cross-training efforts as needed
- Other duties as assignedREQUIRED JOB SKILLS
- Wood working CNC application experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read written procedures and understand work orders and blueprints
- Experience and mechanical aptitude for tools and equipment; including CNC machines, table or panel saws, planes, boring machines, sanders, routers, screw guns, and tape measures
- Knowledge of wood stock or components, production processes, quality control, and other techniques to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent required
- Demonstrated high level of quality in workmanship
- Basic math, reading, and reasoning skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, written and oral
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrated multi-tasking ability to respond to manufacturing needs
- High attention to detail; ability to visually inspect parts
- Ability to work independently or with a team
