JOB SUMMARY
The Cost Accountant role is responsible for helping to establish policies and procedures around cost and inventory management, analyzing costs of production, and sharing recommendations with management. This role is fully on-site in Denton, NC. The Cost Accountant will work closely across departments and companies in pricing control and analysis. Reporting to the shared services finance team in Tennessee, this person will work closely with FP&A for annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and monthly close reporting. This position requires cost accounting expertise, an analytical mindset, critical thinking, adaptability, organizational and task management skills. The Cost Accountant will work in partnership with cross functional teams including procurement, engineering, manufacturing, warehouse, and accounting teams to perform in-depth cost analysis.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following
Review and close production jobs.
Support monthly and quarterly close processes (including inventory movement, scrap, E&O /consumption adjustments) to ensure accuracy of inventory quantities and values. Track actual to standard usage and loss variances and prepare analysis explaining variances.
Perform multiple month-end closing tasks, prepare multiple schedules, reconciliations and journal entries as necessary for inventory and cost.
Develop and support inventory controls and requirements including documentation.
Support the Bill of Material maintenance and review of manufactured products and prepare cost estimates when required.
Perform in-depth analysis of manufacturing and overhead cost, manage changes in labor and overhead rates in collaboration with the production department managers to understand/maintain cost and metrics and determine strategic ways to reduce cost.
Lead year-end physical inventory activities and work directly with 3rd party auditors to verify and validate counts and provide traceable supporting documentation when required.

DESIRED TRAITS:
3 years-experience working in manufacturing.
BS/BA, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong technical computer skills required, experience working with Epicor or another ERP preferred
