DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Scale Operator is responsible for weighing incoming loads, operating inbound and outbound scales, and directing customers to appropriate areas for unloading. The position must be able to function with minimal supervision. Work in this position requires the ability to multi-task and fill in where required. A positive attitude and flexibility is essential.
Specific responsibilities may include:
Enter shipping and receiving into the system.
Check and verify all information on the driver’s paperwork for accuracy.
Maintain a cordial relationship with coworkers, customers, and suppliers.
Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions.
Conduct scale operations and evaluate incoming materials: identify the material, operate inbound scale to determine the weight, and direct customers to appropriate unloading areas.
Maintain inbound and outbound scales and any other equipment accuracy through daily testing.
Maintain accurate daily records of scale operations as required.
Visually verify inbound/outbound vehicles on scale deck; enter weight in computer.
Answer incoming calls; give directions; handle questions and/or direct them to the appropriate party.
Communicate safety requirements and quality and acceptance procedures to suppliers.
Maintain order and housekeeping of scales and scale house.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
High school diploma or GED required.
EXPERIENCE
Two years’ experience and bilingual preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Basic reading, writing, and some advanced math skills are required.
Knowledge of our quality policy and objectives.
Learn basic product identification.
Must have a general knowledge of Microsoft Office
PHYSICAL AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, bending, standing, walking.
Must have the ability to stand for long periods and must be able to work while sitting, bending, twisting, and climbing many flights of stairs.
