What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Accountant position at Cigars International?
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an Inventory Accountant to join our Bethlehem, PA team. Key focus areas of the Inventory Accountant are to ensure the accurate and timely recording of all inventory transactions, provide meaningful insight and analysis to all inventory activities, and perform a variety of other cost accounting functions. WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
- Ownership of inventory accounting, including but not limited to, inventory and related reconciliations, inventory valuation, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end inventory accounting processes
- Analyze inventory aging reports and review potentially excess and obsolete inventory, and maintain proper inventory reserves
- Review and processes inventory (inter-company and external), transportation, and all other material related invoices
- Collaborate with operations and distribution centers to identify, research, and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Prepare and submit Federal and/or State government tobacco reporting
- Track and resolve pricing, tax, freight, and quantity discrepancies
- Prepare and maintain vendor Royalty accounting
- Assist with year-end audit, including compiling requested information and preparation of various analysis
- Prepare various ad hoc inventory related reports
- Other accounting and finance related duties, as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- BA from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other related software systems, experience with ERP systems
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple priorities, and communicate progress
- Familiarity with GAAP/FASB inventory methodology
- Independently manage daily activities and issue resolution
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Previous high volume inventory experience a plus
