**Overview:**
Job Description: The Lead Clinical Behavioral Health Consultant supports the collaborative care team: provider, patient, social worker and behavioral health care manager (BHCM) through regular consultation on an assigned caseload of patients. The behavioral health consultant advises the primary care provider on appropriate medications and other treatment strategies, also providing the care team with educational support on diagnosing and managing behavioral health and substance use conditions. This position plays a key role in supporting development, innovation, implementation, and oversight of the Evernorth integrated behavioral health model.
**Responsibilities:**
Conduct live and interactive clinical assessments of patients, recommending treatment protocols, as well as behavioral medications to providers, and scheduling follow up appointments from your home office.
Provide regularly scheduled (usually weekly) caseload consultation to BHCMs. Case review consultations focus primarily on patients who are new to the caseload or who are not improving as expected under their current treatment plan. Case reviews may be conducted by telephone, or video.
Work with the BHCM to oversee the status and population health of their assigned patient caseload. The behavioral health consultant uses a dashboard within the Electronic Medical Record (Epic) to track all assigned patients and prioritize patients for case review and treatment adjustment.
Recommend any treatment adjustments through the case review process or in ad-hoc consultations, including medication recommendations and other interventions, within 3 business days of consultation with a BHCM or other interdisciplinary team (IDT) members.
Advise on treatment for patients who may need more intensive or more specialized mental health care, supporting treatment in the chronic care setting until patients can be engaged in specialized care as appropriate.
Clearly communicate the limitations of the case review consultation and treatment recommendations if the patient is not evaluated in person.
Direct evaluation of patients with significant diagnostic or therapeutic challenges who are identified in discussion with the patient's BHCM and/or provider. Such consultation may be provided in person or via telemedicine (video or telephone).
Development and delivery of in-service training for providers and other IDT staff regarding recognition and treatment of behavioral health conditions and substance use disorders in primary care.
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 95,000 - 158,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
