Job Title: Systems Support Specialist
Location: Boston & St. Louis
Position Summary:
The Systems Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining the desktop operating environment and providing first-level support within the Systems Support team. This role assists the infrastructure team in resolving technical issues for end-users and maintaining the Windows backend. The Systems Support Specialist operates under the supervision of the Helpdesk Manager.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 1 support to all users, both local and remote.
- Manage tickets in the Systems Support Ticketing Queue and ensure timely follow-ups.
- Assist with the administration of Microsoft Windows Active Directory.
- Create, disable, and maintain up-to-date Active Directory information for all users.
- Manage hardware deployment and tracking using the inventory management system.
- Deliver recurring refresher training on IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Set up new user accounts, including Active Directory and phone system configurations.
- Decommission user accounts upon departure.
- Research and support new hardware and software as needed.
- Develop and maintain documentation for technology tools and applications supported by the infrastructure team.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and evaluate best-of-breed solutions to support business initiatives.
- Continuously assess and improve existing processes within the technology stack.
- Work in the office a minimum of two days per week.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in IT helpdesk support with a proven track record and continued technical training.
- Strong organizational skills and efficiency in a demanding work environment.
- Customer service advocate with a commitment to user satisfaction.
- Experience and understanding of the following technologies:
- Microsoft O365/M365
- Mobile Device Management solutions
- Inventory management
- Workstation and server hardware troubleshooting and maintenance
- Basic networking knowledge
- Workstation imaging and troubleshooting
- DNS and DHCP
- Enterprise antivirus management
- Windows support tools
- VOIP phone systems
- Zoom and Microsoft Teams collaboration tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional service and problem-solving skills.
- Mac OS support experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Capability to operate machinery and/or power tools.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Physical requirements may include bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking.
