Cimarron Municipal Schools is currently seeking applicants for the position of Athletic Director/Coordinator.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA or higher (For Director title)
- Administrative and Coaches License-Professional Licensure Unit, State Department of Education
- New Mexico Driver’s License
- A minimum of 5 years coaching experience in a varsity sport.

REPORTS TO: Building Principals and Superintendent
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: (performed with or without reasonable accommodation) To organize and implement the overall program of extracurricular athletics for the district.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides recommendations in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of coaches as requested by building principals or the superintendent.
- Fosters good school/community relations by keeping the community aware and responsive to the athletic program.
- Promotes public relations by assuring that media receive and publish information about district athletes and activities.
- Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.
- Develops and implements the activity budget with coaches’ input.
- Coordinates and provides for the purchasing of all materials, equipment, and supplies for the interscholastic athletic program.
- Assures that student insurance, health physicals, and academic eligibility requirements are met.
- Develops, implements, and enforces appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of students and coaches at all athletic activities, at home or away.
- Attends all varsity athletic events or arranges for other administrative attendance.
- Assures that all athletic programs are promoted equitably.
- Supervises coaching staff, conducts orientation and staff development sessions in cooperation with building principals.
- Implements all New Mexico Activities Association rules and regulations.
- Arranges for all athletic travel, meals, and lodging.
- Follows all district purchasing procedures and cooperates fully with district administration in all areas of responsibility.
- Implements a good sportsmanship program and works with athletes, cheerleaders, student government, and building principals to foster good sportsmanship at all school athletic events.
- Arranges for and supervises ticket sales, crowd control, and supervision, employment of officials, and maintenance of athletic facilities.
- Informs staff members assigned to athletic events as to their roles and responsibilities in maintaining crowd control.
- Schedules, games/events, signs contracts with other schools, publicizes activities, distributes schedules.
- Cooperates with building principals in scheduling athletic events to conflict as little as possible with other building/district activities.
- Develops and maintains a uniform replacement schedule so that each team is in the cycle for uniform replacement.
- Serves as the district representatives to the NMAA district meetings and other regional and state athletic committees.
- Models respect for athletes, coaches, and officials, and insist that district coaches and athletes do the same.
- Keeps knowledge current by attending NMAA workshops and clinics.
- Performs other duties as directed by the superintendent or by building principals.
Salary : $5,000
