This role involves working closely with astronauts, human factors specialists, systems engineers, and design teams to ensure that all vehicle systems, subsystems, and interfaces meet the requirements for safe and efficient human spaceflight operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in crew operations, spacecraft design, and human factors engineering.
Key Duties
- Serve as an interface between flight crews and engineering teams, ensuring crew needs and human factors are incorporated into spacecraft design.
- Develop and validate crew interfaces, including cockpit controls, displays, and emergency egress systems.
- Conduct human-in-the-loop simulations and evaluations to assess spacecraft operability and usability.
- Support the development of procedures, checklists, and training materials for crewed missions.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and risk assessments to ensure crew safety and mission success.
- Coordinate with NASA, Boeing, and other stakeholders to align flight crew requirements and expectations.
- Identify and resolve integration issues between hardware, software, and human systems.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education :
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
- This is a sensitive/safety-sensitive position and is subject to DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
- 5 or more years of experience in human spaceflight, crew systems, or human factors engineering.
- Knowledge of spacecraft systems, human-machine interface design, and flight operations.
- Experience with human-in-the-loop testing and usability assessments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering or human factors discipline.
- Direct experience supporting NASA programs or commercial spaceflight projects.
- Familiarity with NASA standards and requirements for human spaceflight (e.g., NASA-STD-3001).
- Experience with CAD tools and modeling software for crew interface design.
