Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking Structural Analysis Engineers to support the Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System (MAVIS) program in Huntsville, AL. MAVIS is a critical part of NASA’s Mars Sample Return campaign, designed to launch collected Martian samples back to Earth. In this role, you will focus on developing structural Finite Element Models (FEMs), performing static analysis, and providing actionable insights to ensure structural integrity and design optimization.
The current MAVIS program effort is funded through the Preliminary Design Review (PDR), scheduled for June 2025. While future phases are contingent, the anticipated path—under a typical scenario—includes progression to the Critical Design Review (CDR) in 2026, followed by manufacturing, integration, and test activities in 2027 and beyond.

Key Duties
- Develop Finite Element Models (FEMs) and perform static structural analysis of MAVIS vehicle structures.
- Collaborate with design teams to recommend structural design improvements based on analysis results.
- Support the preparation of Technical Test Reviews (TTR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Data Requirements Documents (DRDs), and Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of contract deliverables related to structural subsystem design.
- Participate in engineering meetings and provide documentation support as needed.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education :
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- 2 or more years of related experience.
- Experience in structural static analysis using FEM tools such as NASTRAN, ANSYS, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics, materials, and failure modes.
- Experience developing and refining FEMs for aerospace structures.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams and contribute to engineering reviews.
- Experience supporting NASA or DoD spaceflight programs.
- Knowledge of NASA structural design and verification standards (e.g., NASA-STD-5001).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with documentation of technical findings and analysis reports.
