What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flight Software Process and Tools Lead position at Cimarron Software?
Cimarron is seeking a Flight Software Process and Tools Lead to support the StarLab program in Houston, TX. The StarLab will be a low Earth orbit (LEO) space station that will serve as a business park for commercial space and space tourism activities! The selected candidate for this role will lead, develop, and deploy the software development processes and tools used to develop flight software for the program.
Key Duties:
- Lead, define, and deploy commercial space software development processes and plans that drive the development of the StarLab flight software.
- Identify, acquire, and oversee software development tools.
- Establish StarLab flight software DevOps pipeline to automate development at scale.
- Apply systems engineering fundamentals to ensure the flight software processes and tools meet stakeholder needs and are aligned with "commercial space" development.
- Significant contributor to programmatic flight software reviews.
- Support flight software certification activities surrounding the flight software process and tools.
- Present on flight software process and tool-related technical topics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform "hands-on" tasks as dictated by resource and schedule needs, such as artifact reviews, tool selection trades, gathering requirements, documenting processes, informally auditing processes, documentation, anomaly resolution, and preparing and presenting certification artifacts.
- Contribute to resource planning, schedule development, and schedule metrics of software schedules.
- Identify risks, provide risk mitigation strategies, and review impacts to schedules and budgets.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- 5 or more years of experience leading and coordinating distributed teams.
- 5 or more years of experience with software processes and tools in a CMMI Level 3 or higher environment.
- 5 or more years of experience building and deploying a DevOps environment for embedded software engineering.
- 10 or more years of experience with software processes for human-rated systems in highly regulated environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for building software processes and tool environments that simultaneously improve software development speed and quality.
- Familiarity with NPR 7150.2 NASA Software Engineering Requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Ability to integrate across a wide range of technical disciplines.
- Ability to work on complex technical problems and provide highly innovative solutions.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline and 20 or more years of professional experience, Master's degree and 15 or more years of professional experience, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- 5 or more years of experience working with software processes for human-rated spaceflight.
- Experience with LEAN principles and applying them to software engineering.
