What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Technician position at Cimarron Software?
Cimarron is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to support the development of the CST-100 Starliner, a spacecraft supporting NASA's Commercial Crew Program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The selected candidate for this position must be available to support 1st and 2nd shift assignments.
Key Duties:
- Perform production fabrication, assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, and modifications on human-rated spacecraft and ground systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical system faults in spacecraft and ground systems.
- Conduct operational maintenance, refurbishment, and verification of assembly accuracy, including self-inspection duties.
- Assist with launch vehicle integration, crew insertion, cargo stowage, and post-landing recovery at remote sites.
- Perform functional checks on installed systems, document assembly tasks, and coordinate work priorities with management.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use
- This is a sensitive/safety-sensitive position and is subject to DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to pass physical examination (visual acuity, color perception, respiratory, etc.) to meet production certification and safety requirements.
- Ability to work any shift assigned (1st or 2nd) and work overtime, if needed.
- 1 or more years of related experience.
- Experience drilling, installing, and repairing composite materials.
- Experience with the tools, equipment, installation techniques, and acceptance criteria for a broad range of fastener types, including threaded fasteners, threaded inserts, tubular rivets, solid rivets, blind bolts, and lock bolts.
- Experience working on human rated spacecraft hardware.
- Experience as task lead of structural assembly lifts and moves.
- Previous Boeing technical certifications and training.
- Previous experience and training in Boeing Common System production software applications (MES-CAPP, NCM) and model-based instructions (MBI).
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Desired Skills, Experience, or Education:
- Experience performing precision orbital welds on tubing and components, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and quality requirements.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license or similar certification.
