What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician position at Cimarron Software?
Cimarron is seeking Panel Technicians to support the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The selected candidate for this job will be responsible for fabricating, inspecting, and testing Ground Safety Equipment assemblies and panels/racks integral to various spaceflight systems.
This position would begin in a shot environment on either the Space Coast or Western Florida and transition into the field at the Kennedy Space Center.
Although these positions support a 6-month contract, these positions are full-time/benefited (i.e. PTO, 401(k), insurance) positions with Cimarron.
Key Duties:
- Integrate electronic equipment systems for space system components for the Artemis programs.
- Assemble complex electromechanical racks, panels, and subassemblies.
- Ensure safe, consistent, and groundbreaking advancements for human spaceflight programs.
- Install avionic components and systems, ensuring operational reliability, adherence to design specifications, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Read and interpret work orders, diagrams, wire lists, and technical instructions to determine materials, sequence of assembly, and installation requirements.
- Conduct complex installations, including mounting and wiring of components such as PLCs, HMIs, relays, and terminal blocks, as well as fabricating wire harnesses through cutting, soldering, and crimping.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, test, and verify avionics assemblies, panels, and harnesses against technical models and specifications, executing repairs or modifications as needed.
- Promote a collaborative and respectful team environment while driving continuous improvement in installation processes to enhance safety, efficiency, and adaptability to evolving project requirements.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
- 3 or more years of experience as an electrical/cable fabrication technician or other relevant industry experience.
- Previous experience working with panel, wiring, and mechanical installs.
- Experience with engineering drawings, wire diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/365 including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience with avionics/panel manufacturing and operation of related test equipment.
- Proficiency in harsh environment tests and assembly procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC/ WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739, J-STD-001, and ANSI/ESD S20.20.
- Proficiency using measurement tools and understanding basic math concepts.

- High School diploma or equivalent.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Further technical training or industry certification.
- 5 or more years in a manufacturing role in aerospace or similar industry, with a focus on rack or panel fabrication.
- Proven success as a "hands-on" technical leader.
- Possesses a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
- Background in electromechanical systems and electrical/mechanical assembly.
- IPC J-SST-001 and/or IPC-620 certification, NASA space addendum 8739.4 certified.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix problems that may arise.
- Ability to collaborate with many different teams/individuals to reach a common goal by building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation maintaining positive and professional relationships, and contributing to a culture of inclusion.
