Position Summary: The Content Specialist supports the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library’s mission by creating and managing engaging, high-quality content across various platforms to enhance the Library’s visibility, engagement, and impact. This role ensures all content aligns with the Library’s marketing strategy, brand standards, and voice.
Duties:
  • Executes clear and engaging marketing content for the Library. Ensures the content aligns with the Library’s marketing strategy, brand standards, and brand voice.
  • Develops and executes content for the Library’s website, CHPL.org. Maintains editorial calendar for the website.
  • Resolves internal ticket requests for content, changes to the Library’s website, basic graphic development requests, and other Brand Team requests.
  • Assists with writing marketing materials, including fact sheets, email marketing content, marketing campaign content, and content for internal and external publications and websites as needed.
  • Serves as the Library’s liaison with external content contributors, both inside and outside the organization. Solicits ideas from internal staff.
  • Creates the plan, creation, publication, and analytics of the Brand Team’s short- and long-form video content, with support from the Brand Team and independently, for all digital marketing efforts, including for social media, website, email campaigns and advertisements.
  • Serves as backup to the Social Media Specialist as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrates ability to create and manage content for websites, email campaigns, and social media platforms.
  • Demonstrates experience in managing editorial calendars and coordinating multiple content initiatives simultaneously. Basic knowledge of design principles and familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.)
  • Understands and supports the Library’s mission, vision, culture, and structure, and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the Library’s policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates the skills and abilities to interact with the public, staff, and management in a respectful and professional manner that reflects the Library’s Values.
  • Demonstrates on-brand customer service to internal and external customers by consistently fulfilling customer needs and expectations.
  • Handles and responds to concerns, complaints, and difficult situations with patience and tact.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in all settings, including an orientation toward teamwork, collaboration & building common ground with peers; arriving to work reliably, regularly, and on time; and behavior that is consistent with building a strong organizational culture, while performing work duties.
  • Possesses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

  • Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, media production, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One or more years of experience in content creation, digital marketing, or a similar field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in content marketing, digital storytelling, or related roles, particularly with a library, nonprofit, or community-focused organization.
  • Advanced skills in analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics) to monitor campaign performance and assess effectiveness.
  • Proven success in managing content for large, dynamic websites or running major marketing campaigns.
  • Advanced proficiency in video production, including scripting, shooting, editing, and post-production.
  • Experience with SEO optimization and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to evaluate content performance. Advanced skills of design principles and familiarity with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred).

Grade 7: starting at $46,945.60
