Job Summary :
Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) is currently seeking an experienced, capable, and highly motivated Broadcast Assistant (PT) Radio Reading Service to join our team! This is a part-time assistant to the Broadcast Supervisor responsible for the Radio Reading Services on weekends, Holidays, and as needed on weekdays.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Supervises broadcast and production operations for the Radio Reading Services on weekends, holidays, weekdays as needed and other times as needed to cover absences of the Broadcast Supervisor to ensure effective broadcast service provision. - This is a part-time, variable schedule, averaging 25 hours per week as needed.
- Produces, engineers and edits programs for airplay and online ensuring professional sound quality. - Programs may include PSAs, Promos, reading of print material and reading of agency documents.
- Must be able to accurately place audio content in broadcast playlists and podcast hosting site.
- Assists with supervision, training and evaluation of broadcast volunteers and interns. - Effectively provides accurate explanation of reader and board operation techniques and procedures to volunteers.
- Ensures proper use and maintenance of station equipment.
- Performs other tasks and duties to assist Broadcast Supervisor as assigned.

ABOUT RADIO READING SERVICES
With a special radio receiver, listeners can hear daily broadcasts of local, regional, and national newspapers, magazines, and more. The broadcast is transmitted using a subcarrier channel of Cincinnati Public Radios WGUC and can be heard within a 50-mile radius of downtown Cincinnati. Broadcasts are also carried in some hospitals and senior living facilities. CABVIs radio station broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, featuring more than 7 hours of daily news from a variety of news outlets. You can also stream our broadcast and podcasts at cincyblind.org or listen with your Amazon Echo. Popular programs are the front-page news, grocery store ads, obituaries, and editorials. Other programs include national newspapers such asThe New York TimesandThe Wall Street Journaland regular feature shows on sports, travel, business, health news, and recipes.
