JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordination- Coordinate improvements in the delivery of patient care based on the analysis of objective data and use of scientifically grounded improvement methodologies with minimal guidance. Understand the aims and scope of the work. Participate in decisions. Serve as a consultant to quality improvement teams and as a quality improvement liaison and resource person throughout Cincinnati Children's and with external partners. Identify and implement strategies to ensure teams' improvement, including coaching, communicating, and providing support. Be present in areas supported. Provide project management for improvement teams, strategic planning sessions, and other organizational meetings.

  • Planning- Drive change by working with faculty and content experts to identify evidence-based care. Work with leaders and management to plan and lead planning group meetings. Orient group to the process and their roles and responsibilities. Coordinate learning sessions with guidance from management and faculty. Develop learning session agendas. Support recruitment of participants by interacting with client and interested teams.

  • Learning Sessions- Facilitate, coordinate, and provide direction/management for quality improvement teams and system level planning and improvement education initiatives as requested. Develop Learning Session evaluations. Coordinate, contribute to the development of, learning objectives for all activities and provide final approval for all prework, Learning Session materials and Action Period Materials. Teach and train at Learning Sessions.

  • Meetings- Plan and facilitate groups including large group sessions, conference calls, and team meetings, expert meetings. Design work sessions with a specific focus or intent. Drive consensus to finalize the charter, measures and interventions to help teams obtain results. Keep meetings focused and moving, and to ensure even participation. Build cohesiveness to achieve results and guide the teams to perform at the highest level possible. Provide meeting facilitation for project teams, including agendas and outcomes. Facilitate the planning and execution of PDSAs. Facilitate the development of strategic improvement goals.

Coach internal and external teams in the use of quality improvement tools and methods.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Quality Improvement Specialist I:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, Master's degree preferred

  • 0-2 years of work experience in a related job discipline

Quality Improvement Specialist II:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, Master's degree preferred

  • 2-5 years of work experience applying quality improvement methodologies and tools, facilitating small and large group meetings, and coaching and mentoring multidisciplinary improvement teams, or equivalent experience.

  • Proven and measurable results with strategic improvement projects are required.

  • Experience with formal QI methodology such as PI, CQI, Six Sigma, Lean, TQM, or MFI.

  • Experience as a coach with IHI Improvement methodology, remote/virtual team coaching & virtual facilitation experience highly desirable.
