Eye Bank Tissue Recovery Technician

• Immediate response to donor notification calls covering 30 medical facilities we service in the greater Cincinnati area. Extra availability can be needed during shifts with multiple donor cases
• Complete review of all available medical history information, including medical chart, physical examination, and any other information obtained from attending medical personnel with appropriate documentation into database
• Retrieval of valid blood/serum sample for testing, following review and evaluation of infusion/transfusion information and centrifuge of any samples obtained
• Knowledge and proper application of aseptic technique for all appropriate procedures
• Enucleation, in-situ corneal excision, and laboratory (training) corneal excision procedures
• Retrieval of vitreous sample on all autopsy cases for potential use by the pathologist
• Performance of slit lamp and specular microscopy examinations on all appropriate tissue
• Courtesy and professionalism in dealing with donor families, hospital personnel, funeral home personnel, and other organ/tissue agency personnel at all times
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for the manipulation of delicate eye tissue

Requirements

• At least 12 months experience in a nursing, OR tech, EMT, medical assistant or similar position involving patient care situations and utilizing medical terminology, knowledge of human anatomy, knowledge of and ability to understand patient charts and laboratory reports
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Proficient computer skills with ability to use web-based programs
• Ability to adapt and navigate different surroundings
• Valid drivers license and dependable vehicle

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
