Job Overview : The Brand & Communications Manager is responsible for managing the Library's brand implementation in the physical spaces of the Library, ensuring that all visual and written communications effectively convey the organization's mission, values, and priorities. This position is also responsible for providing management and guidance to the Brand Team and directly supervising designated staff.
DUTIES :
Supervises and manages designated Brand Team staff, including task assignment, performance evaluation, and overseeing recruitment, hiring, and onboarding in collaboration with HR. Conducts annual performance reviews and foster staff development.
Oversees internal resources and third-party vendors to ensure project requirements are met. Manages project budgets, allocates resources efficiently, and tracks project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
In collaboration with the Director, leads the development and implementation of branded deliverables, ensuring cohesive branding and effective and timely execution.
Leads and motivates project teams, ensuring collaboration, engagement, and productivity. Provides guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, defining goals, timelines, and success criteria.
Ensures visual and written brand consistency across all channels. Works with the Brand Team to develop and implement assets for various needs, including merchandising, campaigns, website, press releases, media kits, and events.
Leads the Brand Team in the creation of templates, graphics, and signage. Regularly visits Library locations to review arrangements and signage, and train staff on best practices to enhance customer experience and provide welcoming spaces.
Uses the Library's strategic framework and goals to inform and develop the merchandising strategy. Works with managers to build understanding and support and to execute best practices for displays and signage.
Serves as person-in-charge in the absence of the Brand & Communications Director and may cover the Brand Coordinators' responsibilities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
Demonstrates ability to create and manage communication and content for websites, email campaigns, and social media platforms.
Demonstrates experience in managing editorial calendars and coordinating multiple content initiatives simultaneously. Basic knowledge of design principles and familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.)
Demonstrates ability to coach, motivate, train, and supervise individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
Takes an active role and models leadership in the implementation of systemwide initiatives and projects.
Understands and supports the Library's mission, vision, culture, and structure, and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the Library's policies and procedures.
Demonstrates the skills and abilities to interact with the public, staff, and management in a respectful and professional manner that reflects the Library's Values.
Demonstrates on-brand customer service to internal and external customers by consistently fulfilling customer needs and expectations.
Handles and responds to concerns, complaints, and difficult situations with patience and tact.

EDUCATION and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, project management, design, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least five years of progressively more responsible communications experience in many of the following areas : visual merchandising, media relations, digital media, content development, marketing, and public relations.
1 - 2 years of supervisory experience.
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the Library's insurance provider
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Master's degree in marketing, communications, project management, or a related field.
3 - 5 years of leadership experience in related field.
Public sector or nonprofit experience, library retail environment preferred.
Experience with Visual Merchandising software, Marq preferred, and design tools, Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
Demonstrated success in leading large-scale branding or facility transformation projects.
Familiarity with community-driven design and visual merchandising best practices.
Knowledge of library operations, facilities management, or community engagement practices.
