JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Serve as Head Coach for the Boys Junior High Basketball Program.
• Oversee the entire Junior High Boys Basketball Program.
• Develop and train student-athletes to play competitive Basketball.
• Develop and execute an effective training program.
• Monitor, motivate, supervise, and mentor student-athletics on and off the Court.
• Instruct / guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
• Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishments, acceptable social behavior, and self-confidence.
• Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
• Manage game day strategies and logistics.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
• Cooperate, in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for information that might be pertinent and / or periodically required.
• Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training / Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
• Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
• Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
• Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
• Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
• Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
• Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative polices set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
• Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State Tournament Games.
• Schedule practice on the first day permitted by OHSAA.
• Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season. Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
• Participate in Clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
• Participate in School events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.
• Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponents.
• Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
