Federal Work Study, Student Worker - Food Pantry Assistant
Overview:
Under the direction of the Food Pantry Club advisors, the Food Pantry Assistant will: gather/organize/prepare items for distribution to Food Pantry patrons; provide confidential intake for new and returning patrons; assist with marketing campaigns and presentations to promote the Food Pantry to student groups and at faculty/staff events; help train future assistants.
Essential Duties:
- Gather food and other items from various collection points
- Unload donations from vehicles or dock area
- Organize (sort and stack) items in orderly manner on shelves/in containers
- Perform regular inventory of items to help ensure food safety
- Ensure that the distribution area is safe and maintain clear walkways & exits
- Use correct body mechanics when lifting
- Perform intake procedures for new and returning patrons
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Distribute food and other items in accordance with Food Pantry policies
- Create and distribute marketing materials to enhance Food Pantry awareness
- Participate in campus events and assist with presentations on Food Pantry activities
- Create/maintain social media presence for Food Pantry (FB, Twitter)
- Assist with training new Food Pantry Assistants
- Update and maintain a library of relevant resources such as area food pantries, recipes, and nutrition education.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualification:
- Basic understanding of English language
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to walk, stoop, stand and reach to a significant degree
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel)
- Must become a member of the Food Pantry Club
Federal Work Study Qualifications:
- Must have completed FAFSA for the current school year
- Must meet and continue to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Must be a United States citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Must demonstrate financial need

This position will work between 10-15 hours per week but no more than 20 hours per week.
Hourly Pay: $14.00 per hour
