POSITION TITLE : Graphic Design Work Study / Co-op

POSITION DEFINITION : A project-based internship with Cincinnati State's Marketing and Communications Department that enables the student to experience a client-request environment and put into practice skills learned throughout his / her Graphic Design curriculum.

LEVEL OF ASSIGNMENT : Student will have access to files and file servers available to department employees.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION : We're in search of a Graphic Design Student with an eye for detail and a passion for creating visual identities. The Graphic Designer will work on marketing collateral, print and digital advertising, printed and digital signage, social media posts, as well as event identity and brand. Qualified candidates is Federal Work Study eligible and comfortable with design, typography, taking on projects with and without creative briefs, and developing layouts, strategies and designs that translate across platforms and media. The right candidate should also feel comfortable meeting deadlines, communicating ideas, collaborating on and pitching concepts, and be able to create print-ready files.

REPORTS TO : Any member of Marketing Staff, specifically Graphic Design Manager Doug Best, Web and Digital Manager Brittany King, or Jackie Norton.

PROJECT EXAMPLES :

• Print Ads : Create print ads for Cincinnati Magazine, the Cincinnati Enquirer, and other regional publications.
• Signage : We have several big signage projects this semester and our Work Study will handle a series of exterior and interior signs directories / wayfinding and events.
• PowerPoint : An updated PowerPoint Presentation template for Cincinnati State Faculty and Staff to use.
• Social Media : Our Graphic Design Work Study will work with the Web and Digital Manager to design Social Media posts for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
• Plasma TV Slides : The Graphic Design Work Study will assist Brittany King in managing the needs of the College as it relates to messaging and communication posted on the plasma TV's on Clifton and satellite campuses, Division offices, etc.
• Organize Assets : sort through and organize / prioritize / make viable photography assets as we upload to a new asset management system.

QUALIFICATIONS : This project is designed for a second-year Graphic Design Major nearing graduation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES : Additional preferred skills this semester include use of PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and potentially other software applications from the Adobe CC Suite. Student should possess excellent proof-reading & communication skills, time management, and have a positive attitude.

Hourly Pay : $15.00 per hour
