Instructor, Social Work/Human and Social Services
Overview:
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor, Social Work. This is a teaching-oriented position rather than a research-oriented position serving the College’s Human and Social Services Program (HSS). The successful candidate will teach college-level Social Work and Human and Social Services courses.
As part of our team of highly qualified faculty, Social Work Instructors are expected to provide high quality instruction, work with our faculty and administrative staff to improve student learning experiences, and be committed to the mission and values of the College. Instruction may take place in a classroom at any Cincinnati State campus or via online learning modalities.
General Responsibilities:
- Primary teaching responsibilities will include any Social Work or Human and Social Services courses.
- Supervise students during practicum experiences.
- Actively interact with the Social Work and Human and Social Services community.
- Participate in accreditation activities.
- Engage in committee work and College-wide service.
- Assist students in the application process for earning industry credentials
- Serve as chair or co-chair of the HSS program as requested by Dean
- Engage in professional development to stay current on the latest effective teaching practices and procedures.
- Be available to teach day or evening classes at Cincinnati State’s main campus in Clifton, as well as the satellite campuses located in Hamilton and Butler Counties.

Specific Duties:
- Make continuous effort to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovate methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
- Actively participate/review in the development of new and maintenance of existing courses/curricula.
- Address student issues in a timely manner, including communicating issues to the program chair.
- Teach assigned courses following established course descriptions, course objectives, and syllabi.
- Fulfill standard responsibilities of tenure-track faculty members.
- Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional and program needs.
- Submit student grades, administrative reports, and conduct other required record-keeping in a thorough and timely manner.
- Maintain office hours in accordance with the Humanities and Sciences Division’s policy.
- Attend College, Departmental, and Divisional meetings.
- Ability to travel throughout the community as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work.
- Knowledge and expertise in social welfare policy and case managements practices.
- Must be familiar with the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board laws and rules.
- Applicants must have demonstrated experience teaching adults via college classroom, educational workshops or other ongoing continuing education venues.
- Experience with or ability to learn and use the College’s Learning Management System (i.e., Blackboard or something similar).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed through the State Boards of Ohio, Kentucky, and/or Indiana.
- Experience teaching in a two-year technical or community college.
- Experience teaching and developing online instruction

- Develop student learning outcomes, objectives, assessment indicators, and focused and practical lesson plans for a range of student learning styles and abilities.
- Determine needs of students and match those to course design, assessment techniques, instructional strategies, and teaching tools.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.
- Team player that is self-motivated with strong organizational and planning skills.
- Individual that is self-disciplined and able to effectively manage others.
- Conduct student, course, and program assessments.
- Use quantitative and qualitative data for continuous quality improvements and decision making.
- Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software are required.
