Overview
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for an adjunct position Surgical Technology Instructor to begin at Main Campus and/or clinical locations. Responsibilities will include instructing students and providing relevant class/lab/clinical experiences needed to assist them in the successful completion of their program.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
Assess student performance in achieving course objectives and communicate progress in a timely manner.
Address student issues in a timely manner, including communicating issue to program chair.
Remain current in the surgical technology field and relate information to teaching/clinical responsibilities.
Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.
Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments and final exam assessments on a timely basis.
Maintain an electronic record on Blackboard of each student's progress that is available upon request by students and/or appropriate College personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, with a concentration in surgical technology.
Minimum of two (2) years of current experience, either in the scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Demonstrate competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom and willingness to explore new instructional methodologies.
Experience using diverse methods of classroom technology, and innovative instructional/academic support systems and programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, in a healthcare related field.
Possess experience/training as an educator.
On-line distance education instruction experience preferably using Blackboard.
