HVAC Technician
Overview :
The HVAC Technician will operate, maintain and repair all heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment, as well as related mechanical equipment. The HVAC Technician is also responsible for preventive maintenance, energy management and BAS (Building Automation Systems).
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Operate, maintain and repair boilers and chillers in a safe and economical method.
- Operate, maintain and repair auxiliary equipment and support systems associated with boilers, chillers, pumps and all related controls.
- Operate, maintain and repair domestic hot water system including hot water circulation pumps, controls and regulators.
- Operate, maintain and repair air compressors and associated equipment including, but not limited to, pneumatic air piping systems and air dryers.
- Oversight of water treatment equipment, which includes testing of boiler water, hot water heating system, condenser water and cooling tower water.
- Operate, maintain and repair piping and ductwork systems, controls and regulators.
- Operate, maintain and repair cooling towers, condenser water systems and associated equipment including fans, pumps, motors, piping, controls and regulators.
- Operate, maintain and repair all HVAC equipment to include air handler units, Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes, fan coils, exhaust fans, radiant and convection heaters and pneumatic / electric controls.
- Maintain proper filter replacement and coil cleaning as per preventative maintenance schedules in all HVAC units.
- Operate, maintain and repair all DX air conditioning systems and their controls. Repair refrigerant leaks, add refrigerant and adjust controls when necessary.
- Calibrate pneumatic temperature controls as necessary.
- Respond to elevator interruptions and call vendor for service if required.
- Must be available to assist with emergencies, including, but not limited to medical, fire, environmental and snow events.
- Must be available for on call assignments on a rotational basis.
- Oversight of testing (weekly) of emergency generators including monitoring fuel levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities management to meet the service needs of the College, including, but not limited to, assisting with set-ups, special events, projects, plumbing and / or electrical issues, safety and snow removal.
- Maintain plant, storage and mechanical areas in a safe and clean condition.
- Routinely review CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) generated work order assignments and follow through with completion.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation : $28.97 base pay additional for valid certifications, permits or licenses per CBA language
