Job Summary:
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and implementing production schedules using SAP R/3 to meet customer requirements, including JIT/JIS delivery functions. This role ensures effective communication with customers, monitors finished goods inventory levels, and coordinates cross-functional efforts to optimize production flow and inventory control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer delivery communications.
- Monitor customer EDI and advanced shipping notices to ensure accurate scheduling.
- Create and manage production schedules to meet customer delivery expectations and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Coordinate engineering changes to support customer needs while minimizing obsolescence.
- Monitor finished goods inventory levels for accuracy and recommend improvements.
- Assist with inventory-related activities to optimize stock levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in lean manufacturing practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance processes, cycle times, and inventory flow.
- Keep management informed of issues affecting schedules, deliveries, and production capacity.
- Establish communication channels with customers, shipping, manufacturing, materials, and third-party logistics partners.
- Support capacity planning and participate in special assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience with an automotive supplier is preferred.
- Experience in capacity planning and inventory control.
