Job Title: Mid-Level Network Engineer
Location: Redstone Arsenal Huntsville, AL
Position Type: Full-Time
Travel Requirements: Less than 10% of the time
Position Summary:
Install, configure, and manage VMware vSphere environment including creating virtual machines, updating vCenter/ESXi hosts, and troubleshooting connectivity issues related to virtual switches and port groups that are part of a larger Closed Restricted Network (CRN).
Assist with the hardening of VMware vCenter, VMware ESXi hosts, and Windows/Linux operating systems to conform with all applicable regulations from DoD and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This includes but is not limited to Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs). Provide configuration planning and deployment, preform regression testing of all network components and associated systems, documenting the results and work with senior personnel to implement corrective actions in required. Provide support in drafting or updating documentation related to RMF accreditation process of an Army Program of Record. This includes artifacts to include, but not limited to, the System Security Plan (SSP), Configuration Management Plan (CMP), Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), and etc. Complete annual FISMA requirements to include: updating hardware/software lists, create/update STIG checklist, and conduct vulnerability scans utilizing Nessus, SCAP, and Evaluate-STIG. Work with the local O-ISSM to add/close/update POA&M items within eMASS.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in related field
- Minimum 6 years of related experience
- Knowledge of VMware ESXi and vCenter / Familiar with virtualization concepts and functional working skills with various virtualization technologies (create/modify virtual machines, snapshots, clone/export, etc.)
- Physical installation of hardware switches and routers, including associated transport cabling and power systems
- Extensive knowledge of administering both Windows and Linux operating systems
- CompTIA Security CE or equivalent IAW (DoD 8570.01)
- Experience deploying both Windows and Linux based servers in a VMware environment
- Experience in applying DoD STIGs as related to virtual infrastructure
- Familiar with ACAS/Nessus, SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC), and Evaluate-STIG
- Ability to work alongside ISSO to identify and evaluate vulnerability assessments in a scan
- Active Secret Security Clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with patching virtual infrastructure (VMware vCenter/ESXi hosts)
- Good Understanding of basic networking (Routing/Switching/VLANs)
- Familiar with virtualization concepts and functional working skills with various virtualization technologies (create/modify virtual machines, snapshots, clone/export, etc.)
- Knowledge of the RMF process, NIST security controls, and Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)
