Position Summary:
The Underground (UG) Laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at construction projects. This position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, and remove waste materials.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure all project work is compliant with installation standards and is being performed safely and correctly
- Promote and monitor the safety of team members
- Prepare sites to ensure maximum optimization of construction work procedures
- Clean debris, trash and hazardous materials from construction sites
- Dig trenches as instructed
- Assist in installing drill tooling and pipe
- Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in process
- Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately
- Load and unload equipment from trucks
- Fill potholes to facilitate the construction process
- Ensure that all work is being done in compliance with the company's protocols
- Train apprentices and new hires in construction labor work
- Use hand tools to cut and shape material as per instructions
- High school diploma (Preferred)
- Knowledge of UG/Lin installation techniques and standards.
- Must have valid driver's license and be willing and able to obtain Class A CDL License in 6 months (Required).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
- Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding.
- Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
