Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Position Overview :
The Head of Procurement will be responsible for overseeing the procurement function within Cipla and Invagen, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, services, and capital expenditure required for our pharmaceutical operations across multiple manufacturing sites and CMOs. This role will be developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, identifying cost-savings opportunities and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. The role requires a strong background in procurement within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector along with exceptional leadership and strategic thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Procurement Leadership : Develop and execute procurement strategies and optimize supply chain performance in alignment with Global procurement and with company objectives. Lead efforts to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Supplier Management : Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and ensure the on-time delivery of high-quality products and services. Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.
- Compliance and Risk Management : Ensure procurement activities adhere to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Monitor and manage supplier performance and address any issues that arise to minimize risk.
- Market Analysis : Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to make informed decisions and adapt procurement strategies as needed.
- Budget Management : Oversee the procurement budget, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions. Manage KPIs to measure, control and benchmark procurement activities including savings, contract trackers, spend under each procurement category.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with internal stakeholders, including global procurement, R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, supply planning and finance teams, to understand their procurement needs and provide support in sourcing and managing materials and services.
- Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment that encourages professional growth and continuous improvement.
