Title: Head of Procurement (Director level)

Location: East Islip, NY

Office Requirements: on-site Monday - Friday

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000

Bonus: 20%

Position Overview: The Head of Procurement will oversee the procurement function, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, services, and capital expenditure for pharmaceutical operations across multiple manufacturing sites and CMOs. This role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. A strong background in procurement within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector, along with exceptional leadership and strategic thinking skills, is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop and execute procurement strategies to optimize supply chain performance and align with company objectives. Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation.
• Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products and services. Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure procurement activities adhere to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Proactively identify and resolve potential material supply issues.
• Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to adapt procurement strategies.
• Budget Management: Oversee the procurement budget, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions. Report on procurement performance and savings initiatives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and support sourcing and managing materials and services.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment.

Education Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 8-10 years of procurement experience within the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

• Strong knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Ability to build cross-functional relationships and interface effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in procurement software and tools, MS Office, SAP.
• Sensitivity and understanding of cultural differences and the ability to engage globally.
• Ability to creatively solve business problems independently.
• Strong planning and organization skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Unassisted lifting up to 10 kg may be required.
• Sitting at a desk and/or working at a computer for 75% or more of an 8-hour period.

• Weekend or holiday work may be requested or required.
• No remote work available.
• Relocation available.
