Controller


We are looking for a Controller to develop accounting policies and oversee all financial procedures of our company. As a Controller, you’ll monitor the company’s financial status, create and review quarterly and annual budgets, supervise the payroll function and managing accounting transactions.  To be successful in this role, you should have a solid, in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with some PCAOB exposure. Understand and have experience with risk management, cash management and forecasting. Ultimately, you’ll make sure we comply with accounting regulations. This position will be a driver of data-based decisions, making thorough financial analysis, working cross-functionally, disseminating financial information to management personnel.  Participates as a member of the Executive Leadership Team(s) with strategic thinking, annual budget leadership and ongoing risk and opportunity analysis.  Improve profitability, by influencing commercial, innovative, operational information and knowledge decisions.


Essential Duties (The list below highlights the essential job responsibilities but is not exhaustive)


  • Manage and prepare parent company reporting requirements through NetSuite with a PCAOB requirement.
  • Document, monitor and update accounting policies.
  • Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits).
  • Lead month end processes for financial statement closing procedures, analysis and reporting.
  • Report on financial status on a regular basis and create ad-hoc reports when needed, including departmental analysis.
  • Create all financial modeling, multi-year forecasting and budgeting.
  • Review quarterly and annual budgets for all departments.
  • Analyze costs and profits, identifying areas for concern or improvement.
  • Set and track financial KPIs.
  • Create new financial processes, as needed, for new product or customer launches.
  • Facilitate internal and external audits, support tax requirements, coordinate the semi-annual physical inventory, maintain fixed assets, and verify cost of goods sold accuracy.
  • Lead all financial analysis efforts required for new business support.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
  • Work with tax accountants to compile and complete quarterly and annual filings.
  • Collaborate with other company senior leadership to evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action, including new product development, pricing, and potential acquisitions.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial analysis and insights of the business to assist the CEO, President, COO, CFO, and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives across Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Operations and Human Resources including capital expenditure approval, innovation support, sourcing decisions, product pricing, customer profitability and cost containment decisions.
  • Coordinates & prepares a three-year Strategic Plan with input obtained from CEO and CFO.
  • Leads and coordinates the annual budget process, from gathering of inputs and assumptions to the Circle 8 deliverables. Fosters a continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
  • Develop and assist employees to achieve maximum potential. Sustain a culture of innovation, high energy, and performance in line with Circle 8’s mission, vision and values.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Prior work experience as a Controller or similar role.
  • Exhibit a high degree of integrity, reliability, and leadership.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, written and oral presentation skills, collaborative problem-solving skills, and project management skills.
  • Extensive experience with excel for financial modeling, forecasting.
  • Experience creating ad hoc financial reports to support business initiatives.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation.
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger accounts payable and accounts receivable functions (NetSuite preferred).
  • Experience with cash management, risk assessment, ABL reporting requirements.
  • Good knowledge of accounting software (NetSuite preferred).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines with a sense of urgency.
  • Experienced in leading and motivating a team of professionals.

  

Education and/or Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA preferred; Master's Degree a plus; 10 years progressive experience in the area of accounting and finance management; knowledge of GAAP and PCOAB experience. The following are not required but considered: prior audit experience; experience in a rental environment or heavy equipment industry; working knowledge of ERP systems.
