The vet techs on our team are responsible for providing the highest quality of care for patients during appointments, hospitalization and surgery. They are responsible for communicating with owners as well as providers, so excellent communication skills are a must.
Compensation is dependent upon experience and skill level.
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has basic understanding of medical/veterinary terminology.
- Is be detail oriented, organized, with the ability to complete assigned tasks without supervision, and the ability to multi-task.
- Maintains excellent client communication and patient care, including client education. Must be comfortable with discussing finances, review of treatment plans and plan of care with clients. Must be able to handle stressful situations with calm and compassion.
- Is proficient in running and reading in house diagnostic testing, and is familiar with outside lab protocols.
- is skilled with IV catheter placement and other surgical prep, dental procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and radiographic techniques.
Position Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience with assisting with surgery and monitoring pets under anesthesia is required.
- Experience and proficiency with Dental Cleanings is required. Experience with taking dental radiographs highly preferred.
- Must be able to draw blood and place IV catheters.
- Must be able to set up and interpret slides for in house Cytologies (ears, skin scrapes, aspirates, fecal floats, etc.).
- Must be able to safely and properly restrain cats and dogs.
- Must be able to to obtain digital radiographs.
- Must be proficient with guidelines for canine and feline preventatives, wellness and Vaccines.
- Must be willing and available to work rotating opening/closing shifts.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Experience with EzyVet system preferred, but not required.
- Bi-lingual a plus but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
