What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Part-Time Recreational Therapist position at Circle Center Adult Day Services?
Provides professional leadership in planning, organizing and coordinating a variety of therapeutic, recreational and leisure group and individual activities designed to meet participants needs; assists participants with their daily program of personal care and exercise activities; contributes to overall program planning, documentation and supervision of paraprofessional staff.
Works under the supervision of the program director who makes assignments and reviews work performance to ensure the effective delivery of quality participant care.

1. Plan a variety of therapeutic activities that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of those that attend the Center.
2. Conduct both individual and group therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities.
3. Supervise paraprofessional staff and volunteers to help augment activity program.
4. Serve as a direct care team member in helping to monitor general health and safety of participants.
5. Document activities and care provided through various established forms and monitoring tools as per regulatory requirements.
6. Support the organization’s mission to provide affordable quality care that keeps participants safely at home, in community, for as long as possible.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for supervising volunteers and students as assigned.
Work Environment
Exposed to normal conditions during the work day; exposed to undesirable working conditions intermittently such as moisture and odors relating to the care of an aged or disabled individual.
Physical Demands
Employee must be able to walk and/or stand most of day; to work in reaching or strained positions most of the day; to lift, carry or handle light-weight materials (1-25 lbs. or client-equivalent lbs.) materials half the day, medium weight (26-60lbs. or client equivalent lbs.) materials frequently, and heavy weight (over 60 lbs. or client equivalent lbs.) materials occasionally; intermittent sustained muscular exertion.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Work hours are scheduled based on the needs of the Center.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy
2. Certified by National Council for Therapeutic Recreation
3. Two years of experience
Preferred Education and Experience
Minimum of two years of experience in a social or recreation program coordinating services for frail elderly people.
