Circle City Prep a single-site K-8 charter school that is deeply committed to supporting all students to live up to their power and potential through a rigorous college prep education. Circle City Prep is built on research and best practices of high performing charter schools nationwide and is uniquely focused on educating students on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis. For the last four years, Circle City Prep has been the highest performing public school in our community with a 400 student body, 90% low-income and 30% multilingual students.
Job Responsibilities:
As a MS ELA Teacher, you will:
- Execute lesson plans and differentiate daily in order for 100% of students to reach their end of year academic goals.
- Build strong relationships with parents, students and colleagues, driving investment in school culture and academics.
- Analyze student achievement and behavioral data collaboratively with colleagues and School Leadership to critically and strategically respond to the needs of students.
- Implement interventions for students in order to increase learning time and lead to mastery of grade-level content across content areas.
- Lead daily advisory meetings that build Scholars as strong, well-rounded leaders. Additionally, as an advisor, you will closely track your students’ academic progress and lead weekly conferences, setting and tracking goals.
Additional duties:
- Lead a safe, joyful lunch/recess.
- Participate in regular practice-based professional development and real-time coaching.
- Participate in annual two-week Summer Experience (all staff) and three-days of New Hire Onboarding (new staff only).
- Attend and participate in events outside of normal school hours (ex. family nights, student performances, field trips, family conferences, Back-to-School Nights, etc.).
- Provide appropriate supervision of students during class, breaks, meals, enrichment, arrival/dismissal, and transitions to maintain an optimal work environment and to ensure students’ safety and well-being.
- Commit to teach an extended daily schedule: 7:10am – 4:15pm
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
To be considered as a MS ELA Teacher you must:
- Have a track record of producing dramatic, demonstrable student achievement gains or comparable results in current field
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding record of academic achievement and extracurricular leadership, Master’s degree preferred
- Be a person who meets challenges with optimism and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Flexible and driven to build new systems, able to invest and motivate others, and fierce about excellence.
- Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required. Applicants in Indiana State-approved alternative certification programs must provide proof of enrollment.
- Experience with Wit & Wisdom and/or Lavinia Close Reading Curriculum, preferred.
- Pass a criminal background check, as required by law.
