What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at Circle D Farm?
We are hiring a number of Camp Counselors to supervise young campers and make sure they are safe learn new things and have fun. What do Camp Counselors do? The most important out of all Camp Counselor duties is to ensure campers are safe at all times. You’ll be responsible for overseeing their activities and ensuring they don’t get lost or hurt. The job duties of a Camp Counselor include teaching summer camp games, supervising children, setting up equipment, and helping at the pool. Being reliable and able to build good relationships with children are two essential traits of a Camp Counselor. You need to have a good knowledge of outdoor activities, like kickball, dodgeball, soccer, football, volleyball, etc. If you’re patient, energetic but strict when needed, and can work well with others, we’d like to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Organize outdoor activities or sports for groups of campers
- Follow a weekly schedule making sure you arrive at the appropriate time
- Assist other counselors with recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, horseback riding, or arts and crafts)
- Escort and oversee children and keep them safe
- Educate campers through games and explorations
- Set up and maintain equipment
- Resolve occasional fights between children and address behavioral issues
- Make sure all safety rules are followed
- Ensure camping is clean and that campers don’t litter lunch areas or nature walks
- Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed or escort to the camp office.
- Keep accurate incident logs
Skills
- Proven experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children
- Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities and sports
- Patient and reliable
- Organizational and communication skills
- A love for children
- Energetic and positive personality
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like hiking, running, crouching, and being outside all day during the summer)
- Requiring staff to have completed at least one year of college
Camp Dates and Hours
- June 19-August 4, 2023 (No camp on July 4th)
- Monday-Friday
- 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Must attend 2 day orientation and training -June 13 & June 14
- No vacations or day off allowed during orientation or camp dates
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass a back ground check

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $500.00 - $571.00 per week
Schedule:
