Job Description Overview:  Senior R&D / Engineering Technician III

Requirements for the Senior R&D / Engineering Technician III position includes a full understanding of mechanical and electrical principles, the ability to work with hand, power, and specialized tools, assemble complex machines using drawings or blueprints, test, and debug components used in equipment and machinery with general instructions and little supervision.  Ability to create CAD models, electrical schematics, Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, and other technical documents is desired. 

Tasks description – Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Machine Assembly: 40% of position responsibility

  • Perform advanced machine and equipment assembly per drawings.
  • Perform electrical wiring, assembly, and component configuration and commissioning.
  • Perform Industrial Machine Control programming.
  • Perform troubleshooting of commonly used mechanical and electrical components.
  • Provide feedback to Engineering team on assembly, performance, or serviceability issues with new equipment.

 Process Development & Improvement: : 25% of position responsibility

  • Assist in development manufacturing processes and parameters for equipment.
  • Perform tests as outlined, document results, prepare data to required formats.
  • Interpret test results and make adjustments to improve process performance.
  • Directly operate process related equipment to optimize workflow, material handling, and First Time Through success rate.
  • Document Operating Procedures, create Work Instructions, and provide Training as needed.

 R&D Activities: : 20% of position responsibility

  • Assemble and test prototypes of equipment designed by the Engineering staff.
  • Conduct experiments as outlined by the Engineering staff
  • Record and compile data so that it easily interpreted.
  • Interpret results and observations to determine next steps.

 Production Support: : 15% of position responsibility

  • Provide troubleshooting support when equipment malfunctions occur.
  • Provide training as required.

Additional Task and Responsibilities:

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Skills, Intellectual Demands and Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma with at least 4 years’ related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate Degree (STEM) or Bachelor Degree (STEM) - 4-6 years related experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Full understanding of engineering principles commonly used in mechanical and electrical applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Business related computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Understands all aspects and details required to perform the functions of the job.
  • Limited supervision required for routine work, general guidance and instructions may be required for new or special assignments.
  • Primary job functions are sometimes performed exercising independent judgment.

INTELLECTUAL DEMANDS:

  • Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations.
  • Must be approachable and responsive to a variety of people and issues.
  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Must have a long attention span in order to listen to people, perceive the real problems and bring issues to a successful conclusion.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Range: $22.00 - $24.75
