Fuel Manager - Nashville

The Fuel Manager will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical pricing recommendations to the operations teams while serving as a primary point of contact for site and field personnel in their respective geographic regions of responsibility. In addition, the role will have responsibilities for data analysis and identification of key promotional drivers and performance metrics for the entire division.

The individual must possess a high degree of aptitude around data analysis along with the ability to differentiate between short and long-term planning and strategic decision-making relative to fuel pricing, margin, and volume performance.

• Manage day-to-day retail pricing of assigned markets, utilizing a combination of proprietary and licensed software applications.
• Serve as primary contact within designated geographic areas for issues and/or inquiries related to all business functions at the site and market-level including marketing, sales, and operations. 
• Provide data analysis using available databases, spread sheets and BI tools.
• Assist in development of site level fuel margin and volume objectives.
• Report as necessary on fuels and marketing data to determine competitive market conditions and optimum fuel and supply strategy.
• Prepare performance projections to assist in earnings forecasts.
• Assist with fiscal year fuel budgeting process for Midwest Division.
• Assist with capital projects related to the fuel department
• General support across multiple business functions (marketing, sales, operations, finance, supply & logistics) for the fuel department.
• Maintain compliance with federal, State, and local laws regarding supply management, pricing, and record keeping for all fuels, ethanol, and additive handling.
• Perform site visits as needed to identify local market trends and site attributes that may assist in strategy refinement and operational compliance.

Position will also be responsible for the car wash category for the Midwest Division

To maximize sales and profit by collaborating with suppliers, evaluating pricing and promotions, planning marketing strategies. The Category Manager supports the company goals by focusing on personal accountability, customer service and work efficiency. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Determines annual unit and gross profit growth by developing annual market plans and coordinating implementation with the sales operations field; analyzes trends and results and adjusts accordingly.
• Builds strong working relationships with vendors.
• Communicates timely and effectively with all cross-functional teams and upper management.
• Maintains project schedules by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
• Increases sales revenues by developing promotional concepts and overlay programs; develops category plans.
• Establishes and reviews on a frequent basis all gross margins by forecasting and developing annual sales demands, projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products, and determining placement and promotions.
• Serves market by responding to field requests for market or product specific materials.
• Projects and measures category sales and gross profit results by developing and maintaining records of item cost, retail, and gross margin dollars.
• Maintains external vendor relations by providing direction, guidance and information, resolving concerns.
• Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or related fields and/or 3-5 years analyst, pricing, or fuel station experience. Must be adept in Excel and Access and familiar with Power BI and other data analysis tools. Proficiency in business/financial writing and communication is a plus.
