What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Substitute Nurse position at Circle Program?
Circle Program is looking to fill a substitute nurse positions for our all girls residential summer camp to cover 1-2 24 hour shift(s) per week. Camp runs June 22nd - August 1st, broken down into three sessions broken up by age group.
Job Qualifications:
- Wilderness First Aid certified or other medical certification equivalent.
- Must pass State and Government background checks.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must be 20 years of age or older.
- Experience in emergency response situations.
- Keeping a record of medication administration along with allergies awareness and possible experience with diabetes.
- Physical ability to lift 50lbs.
- Comfortable participating in activities such as: hiking, running, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, ropes course, art and more.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complete required staff orientation days.
- Residing at camp for 1-2 24 hour shift(s) per week.
- Providing care and supervising medical situations and services.
- Dispensing medication as scheduled or needed to campers and staff.
- Ensuring all medications and first-aid kits are stocked and packed with necessary materials.
- Keeping a record of who and how individuals are medically treated.
- Be up to date on all camper files and medical needs and treatments.
- Ensure medical binder is locked away, but organized and easily accessible in an emergency.
- Always carry camper binder with their medical on you at all times, this includes on and off camp property.
- Work with the Camp Director to learn the Emergency Action Plan and best practices.
- Practice EAP with all staff during orientation and 2-3 times throughout camp sessions.
- Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to: administering scheduled medications, filling out and documenting treatment logs, ensuring all campers have needed medical equipment for the day such as inhaler or epi-pen, being present at all meal times, roaming the campus being available and on the move at all time, ensuring all cabins and counselors have medical supplies needed in their first aid kits as requested.
- Provide administrative assistance to Directors in case of an emergency, assistance and responsibilities will be determined by Camp Directors.
- Inform Camp Directors of relevant health information, Directors will then determine who needs to be aware of information.
- Ensure camper and staff privacy, human rights are being protected and respected.
- Maintaining inventory of medical supplies and equipment as needed.
