Accountant
Job Summary
The Accountant will support the Controller in processing general ledger activities and reporting, audits, budgets, special projects, support the Finance team in A/R and A/P. They must be attentive to detail, thorough, possess a strong work ethic, and be professional and courteous when working with others.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) exempt position.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports to Controller and Owners of Circle S Ranch. No direct reports.
- Liaise with vendors, Finance department, Circle S staff, committees, and various others (auditors, brokers, etc.)

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
General Financial
- Prepare & input journal entries in the general ledger
- Process work orders, inventories and grower settlements.
- Data input and analysis.
- Draft monthly reports for department areas & leadership
- Assist departments as needed in account information
- Assist other accounting staff positions as needed
- Maintenance of chart of accounts
- Assist, as needed with preparation of quarterly & year end statements and reports if needed.
Special Projects
- Assist with annual budget process as needed.
- Assist with all audits as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Skills & Abilities / Education & Training:
- Bachelor degree in accounting or any finance field, or commensurate financial experience.
- Experience/knowledge in general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Experience in agricultural accounting a plus.
- Experience with accounting software (Manager Plus/ Cultura accounting software a plus)
- Great attention to detail in calculations.
- Ability to be a self-starter and prioritize work load
- Work well with people at all levels of the organization
- Willingness and ability to establish, nurture, and work through teams of staff to accomplish objectives
- Computer skills for Office, Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- The ability to act responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive financial information, whether it is information for the company or for individuals.
Physical Abilities
- Position involves light walking, standing, stooping, carrying and lifting of lightweight materials (under 25 pounds).
- Requires visual acuity to read numbers, letters, and images; depth perception; hand and finger dexterity to use a keyboard at an advanced rate, and hand-eye coordination.
- Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficient to hear over phone and carry on routine conversations.
