Circle Seafoods is seeking a skilled and reliable Ammonia Refrigeration Specialist to join our team in Metlakatla, Alaska.
This critical role will ensure the proper functioning of ammonia refrigeration systems during our busy processing season.
The specialist will handle maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to keep systems running smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform regular maintenance and emergency repairs on ammonia refrigeration equipment (compressors, condensers, evaporators, etc.).
- System Monitoring: Keep an eye on refrigeration systems to ensure they are running efficiently and within safety standards. Address any malfunctions quickly.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical or electrical issues to minimize downtime and support production goals.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including handling ammonia safely and keeping accurate records for compliance.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members (technicians, engineers, production staff) to ensure smooth operations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and system performance.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 1-2 years working with ammonia refrigeration systems (preferably in seafood processing or industrial environments).
- Certifications: Required - Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Certification or equivalent. Bonus: EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
- Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, and refrigeration controls.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and fix issues quickly, especially under pressure.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work in confined spaces, and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
- Communication: Good verbal and written skills for documentation and teamwork.
