Job Overview
We are seeking a Salmon Season Operations Supervisor to oversee salmon processing operations at our Metlakatla, AK Plant or Barge during the summer season. This is a great opportunity to grow with a leading seafood company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule production activities to ensure smooth operation.
- Train, supervise, and manage production employees to achieve optimal performance.
- Lead by example on the production floor, demonstrating hands-on involvement in freezing and packing salmon.
- Ensure product quality and compliance with standards, maintaining a safe working environment.
- Monitor and improve operational efficiency, identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with HR to meet production needs, ensuring adequate staffing.
- Maintain accurate production records and provide regular updates on operations.
- Work under pressure, managing long shifts (12 hours, 7 days a week during peak season).
Off-Season Responsibilities:
- Hire and interview seasonal staff for the next season, selecting top talent.
- Review past performance and implement training programs to enhance employee skills.
- Evaluate equipment maintenance and upgrades, ensuring readiness for the next season.
- Collaborate across departments to align goals with company objectives, driving success.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; college education preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in the Alaska seafood industry, preferably in production management.
- Knowledge of HACCP and safety training protocols.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to Alaska.
