Position Summary

The Director of Marketing and Communications will be a key leader in promoting Circle the City’s mission, increasing brand awareness, and elevating the organization’s public profile. This role will develop and execute strategic marketing and communication initiatives to engage key stakeholders, including clients, donors, partners, and the broader community. The Director will lead efforts in media relations, digital marketing, storytelling, and internal communications, ensuring cohesive and compelling messaging that aligns with Circle the City’s values and goals.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to support Circle the City's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and internal teams to align marketing initiatives with organizational priorities, fundraising campaigns, and public outreach efforts.
  • Lead and oversee the development of marketing and communications plans for key programs and initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be responsible leading an effective marketing strategy to propel company growth. You will work cross-functionally to understand marketing needs, act as a company brand ambassador to external sources, and drive revenue growth through successful marketing campaigns. 

Brand Management and Storytelling

  • Enhance and maintain Circle the City's brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Create compelling storytelling content that highlights the impact of Circle the City’s programs and services, including patient success stories, staff highlights, and community partnerships.
  • Manage the production of digital and print collateral, including annual reports, brochures, and informational materials.

Media Relations and Public Relations

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and media contact for Circle the City, cultivating strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets in coordination with the Communications Manager.
  • Develop and pitch story ideas to secure earned media coverage in print, broadcast, and online news platforms.
  • Respond to media inquiries and manage crisis communication strategies as needed in coordination with the Communications Manager.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide analysis on public perception and media sentiment.

Digital Marketing and Social Media

  • Oversee the organization’s digital presence, including website content, social media platforms, email marketing, and online advertising.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase engagement and drive traffic to Circle the City’s website and events.
  • Monitor digital performance metrics, adjust strategies as needed, and provide regular reporting on KPIs.

Internal and External Communications

  • Create and manage internal communications strategies to keep staff informed and engaged with organizational updates and initiatives.
  • Oversee the production and distribution of newsletters, email campaigns, and other digital communications targeted at donors, partners, and the general public.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including development and program staff, to create cohesive messaging and content for various audiences.

Agency and Vendor Management

  • Lead and coordinate efforts with external marketing and public relations agencies to execute specialized campaigns, events, and advertising initiatives.
  • Oversee the selection and management of vendors for digital marketing, graphic design, videography, and other creative services.

Fundraising and Event Support

Support the Development team with marketing and promotional efforts for fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives

  • Collaborate on the creation of promotional materials, donor engagement content, and event communication plans to maximize participation and donor support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least 5-7 years of management experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing successful media relations and digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and external vendors/agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for storytelling and content creation.
  • Proficiency in marketing automation tools, email marketing platforms, social media management, analytics and digital marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the mission of serving individuals facing homelessness and an understanding of issues affecting vulnerable populations.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work model with flexibility for remote work and in-office meetings as needed.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours for events and media engagements.
