Summary of Position:
The Pharmacy Director provides administrative and managerial leadership for the planning, monitoring, and oversight of pharmacy operations, including the implementation and assessment of pharmacy operational and administrative services; ensuring the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care and services to Circle the City Patients.
Essential Duties:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Pharmacy Vendor (currently Maxor) and Circle the City Administration.
- Chair the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for Circle the City.
- Oversee the goals and objectives specified for the Pharmacy are successfully accomplished to the highest service level possible and in accordance with the established priorities, budgets, outcomes and 340B guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Pharmacy Vendor to ensure that the organization remains aware of and in compliance with Arizona State Board of Pharmacy regulatory rules and regulations, and accrediting agencies.
- Ensure that the Pharmacy Vendor remains compliant with the terms of their contract with Circle the City.
- Provide oversite for the Pharmacy Vendor in the development and maintenance of pharmacy policies, procedures, and processes that promote safe, efficient and cost effective medication use and that comply with all federal, state and regulatory requirements and standards.
- Ensure that the Pharmacy Staff adheres to all of Circle the City Policies and Operational Guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to review and optimize medication regimens.
- Conduct medication reconciliation to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Assess appropriateness, effectiveness, and safety of medication therapy.
- Provide direct patient care through medication therapy management (MTM) services.
- Offer medication counseling, ensuring patients understand their prescribed medications, potential side effects, and proper administration.
- Develop and implement vaccine programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Coordinate vaccine administration schedules and monitor vaccine inventory.
- Collaborate with public health agencies and community organizations to enhance vaccine access.
- Educate patients on disease management and lifestyle modifications.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to medication safety and adherence.
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols and guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing pharmacy practices.
- Participate in audits and inspections, addressing any identified areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about new medications, treatment guidelines, and emerging healthcare trends.
- Provide educational sessions for healthcare staff on pharmacotherapy updates.
- Serve as an advocate for patients in addressing medication access, affordability, and adherence barriers.
- Collaborate with community resources to enhance patient support.
- Other Duties as presented by supervisor and/or Directors.

Basic Knowledge and Skills:

- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Arizona.
- Completion of a pharmacy residency program (preferred).
- Experience in an FQHC or primary care setting (preferred).
- Certification in Vaccine Administration (e.g., APhA) is desirable.
